Box Score 2 RAINSVILLE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Softball wrapped up its four-game conference series against the NJCAA Division I's top-ranked team in the country in Northeast Alabama Community College (Ala.) over the weekend, dropping both games of a road doubleheader to the Mustangs to conclude the series at 0-4.
With the losses, the Coyotes fall to 22-15 overall and 9-7 in ACCC play.
Northeast Alabama set the tone early in game one in Rainsville, securing a 9-0 run-rule victory in five innings. Coastal managed just one hit in the contest, coming from Riley Bennett, while the Mustangs' pitching staff limited opportunities and recorded five strikeouts.
In game two, the Coyotes found a bright spot offensively as Charlotte Lottinger provided the lone run of the day. The sophomore shortstop went 1-for-1 with a home run, an RBI, and reached base two additional times after being hit by a pitch twice. As a team, Coastal - South tallied four hits in the 9-1 loss.
Sam Daniels went the distance in the circle in game two, tossing 5.0 innings while allowing seven hits and 10 runs (six earned). She also issued eight walks and recorded one strikeout.
Despite the weekend results, the Coyotes remain in the thick of the ACCC standings and will look to bounce back as conference play continues.
Battling the Bucs
Coastal Alabama - South returns to action in its next scheduled conference matchup this Thursday, Apr. 16, aiming to regroup and build momentum down the stretch as the Coyotes host Shelton State Community College (Ala.) for a 1:00 p.m. CT doubleheader in Bay Minette.
