Box Score 4 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Softball team came up short in its ACCC Division I home-and-home series against Shelton State (Ala.), dropping three of four contests during last weekend. The Coyotes avoided the sweep with a late rally in the series finale, improving to 23-18 overall and 10-10 in conference play, currently sitting fifth in the standings with a top-six finish required for postseason qualification.
Coastal opened the series at home with a narrow 3-2 loss in the series opener. Charlotte Lottinger led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance, including a double and RBI, while Riley Bennett added two hits and a run scored. Kaeden Enzor also drove in a run. In the pitcher's circle, Sam Daniels tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.
Game two turned into a high-scoring battle that ended in heartbreak for the Coyotes, falling 12-11 after surrendering seven runs in the final inning. Sydni Carpenter blasted her 16th home run of the season, finishing with two runs scored, while Payson Hanson collected three hits, including a double. Riley Bennett crossed the plate three times in a 3-for-5 outing, and Kaeden Enzor drove in three runs. Addy Stein reached base three times with a hit and two walks, and Breleigh Corley added an RBI triple in the loss.
The series shifted to Tuscaloosa, Ala. two days later for the final two games, where the Coyotes were limited offensively in a 5-1 loss in game three of the ACCC series. Coastal managed just three hits, with Bennett accounting for a double and Enzor scoring the lone run. Carpenter recorded an RBI despite going hitless. Sam Daniels got the start, allowing three runs in 1.2 innings, while Anna Robin provided 4.1 innings of relief, striking out three.
Facing a potential sweep in the finale, Coastal responded with a clutch 3-2 victory fueled by late-game heroics. Trailing entering the final inning, Ava Gradick delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to tie the game before Lexi Hawthorne followed with a pinch-hit double to drive in the go-ahead run. Kaeden Enzor continued her strong weekend and paced the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Brianna Ryan added a double. Mackenzie Boullon earned the complete-game win, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings.
With the regular season winding down, the Coyotes remain in position for a postseason berth but will need a strong finish to secure a spot in the ACCC Championship Tournament.
